Product Description Hold on to your Bibles, folks! You are about to be raptured into the gut-busting, demon-stomping insanity of God's Favorite Church, Landover Baptist - the web's ultimate religious spoof. In the sacred and honorable tradition of The Onion comes a hilarious collection of outrageous news, graphics and games that gleefully skewers America's very own Taliban, the evangelical right. Pastor Deacon Fred, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian(tm), Pastor Harry Hardwick and the rest of the pew-jumping, finger-pointing crazies at Landover Baptist Church (Guaranteeing Salvation Since 1620!) provide a sharply written book full of uproarious words and images. With its shocking exposes, X-rated bible quizzes, scandalous sidebars and mug shots of America's damned, "Welcome to Jesusland!" is sure to become a classic of religious and political humor, taking its rightful place next to the Holy Bible as essential reading in all of America's hotel nightstands.

Funny stuff! August 16, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's a breath of fresh air in these serious, Bush-ridden times. A great conversation piece or coffee table book. Nothing like taking the bible as 100% truth, to expose what a lot of crap the bible really is.
My second favorite fake church after the Subgeniouses.
Hallllaaallllluuuyyyaaaa!!!
One of the funniest satires in a long time March 11, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you're easily offended, this book is not for you. This books puts the current, fundamentalist view that many of the religious right hold of America. It's a little scary to think that many people actually believe what's written on this book.

I am a Christian. Hands down, I will never back down from my faith. However, there are a lot of people out there who claim Christianity yet, live a life totally different from Christ. Being a conservative Christian does not work. We cannot point fingers and label people as "sinner," all that does is push them away and give them a reason to write a book such as this one. I have had many bad run-ins with the Baptist church. Honestly, this book is pretty dead on with some of my experiences. I am a ministry leader but I am constantly around those who the traditional church turns its back on. So in summary: To the Christians: stop complaining about this book. You probably caused this to happen and are just angry because you see yourself within it. Go read a book called unChristian by David Kinneman.. maybe it will change your perceptions. To those who support this book: good job, someone has to take a stand against right winged Baptist Nazis.
Big bucks selling your daughter into Slavery - the Bible Way ! February 17, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I recommend you to memorize much of this book ! It is so handy to be able to quote the chapter & verse of the Bible to your religious-idiot friends !
"Oh, I believe the Bible is the Whole Truth, LITERALLY!"
Then, you can ask them if they want to sell their daughter to you.
Hundreds of other Stupidities in the Bible make for Great Fun with the religious nuts of the "Christian" world !
Sweet Jesus! December 31, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
One of the funniest things I've read in years. This very (and I mean very) dark parody of modern evangelical Christianity is right on the money. If you are religious and have no sense of humor (I have found that these two things usually go hand in hand) then DO NOT even be tempted to look at this book. However if you are, like me, tired of the religious right and their narrow minded view of life, then indulge yourself and buy a copy. Not only are the author's tongues firmly planted in their cheeks, but the plethora of Bible verses that show that Christianity is neither peaceful nor loving are legion and will give you valuable examples as to why you do not buy into (both literally and figuratively) what the Christian Right is saying. Glory!!!
