Although still new to the paranormal romance genre, I've always been in love with vampire-related stories. This book, although was not a bad read did not do it for me.
First of all, the character development is quite weak. Neither Rhys nor Jane has anything that is particularly special about their character. And because of this, it gets very difficult to see why they have fallen for each other so "deeply," as the story suggests. And it is also difficult to see how "deep" their love was for each other, as there really are no significant events in the story to show it to the reader, other than when Christian, Rhy's brother, attacks Jane.
In addition, the storyline is quite weak. Ms. Love was not able to build enough suspense for the climax of the story. There were many times throughout the book when I thought, "ok, something should be happening," but then nothing does. And the 2 love birds just went about doing the deed again and again. So when Christian finally makes his move, I was already yawning.
In short, this book is weak on both character and plot development. It wouldn't keep me turning the pages. What it did kept me doing was looking at how many pages are left in the book, and thinking of which book to read next.
2 stars for this book for that it wasn't so bad that I had to put it down, and because I am still somewhat interested in the two other brothers' stories. Although, those books has just been moved to my low priority list.

I REALLY LOVE THIS SERIES BY KATHY LOVE! THIS IS BOOK ONE AND YOU WILL WANT TO READ THE OTHERS. GOOD STORYLINE. GOOD CHARCTERS AND ENOUGH STEAM TOO!

I was chuckling several times. The characters and plot were good. Two parts were weak.
Story brief: Rhys, Christian and Sebastian are vampire brothers around 200 years old. Christian hates Rhys and wants revenge. Rhys usually avoids mortals, but saves Jane from an attempted rape. Christian attacks Rhys and causes Rhys to have amnesia, which causes Rhys to think he is human. He and Jane fall in love while neither one of them knows that he is a vampire.
The two weak areas are as follows. One: I found myself skimming through a couple of sex scenes. I'm not sure why. They didn't grab me enough. Once or twice I also skimmed a couple of other scenes, somehow in a hurry to get through the book.
CAUTION SPOILER:
Two: I did not like Rhys deciding to break up with Jane after he regained his memory. He knew she was in danger from his vampire brother Christian, but he said she must live her life away from Rhys to be safe from Christian. This was not true because it meant Rhys and Sebastian couldn't protect her from Christian. Many romance novels have the couple separate after they fall in love. I prefer better reasons than this.

I think the psychological aspect of the story was a very difficult choice for the writer. She managed to make it work, but barely. The ending was good, but it was very slow getting there. I'll get the others in the series if they go on a gold box deal.

This was the first Kathy Love book that I have ever read, and I love it. I have since purchased the rest of the Young Brothers series and I can't wait to see what happens next.
