Product Description Why cant I draw what I see? Long-time drawing instructor and celebrated artist John Torreano answers this much-asked question, showing how to visualize three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface. Torreano offers a series of exercises to help the reader to train his or her eye and to enable anyone, regardless of age or experience, to draw. Lively, accessible, and authoritative, the book includes illustrations to demonstrate techniques, examples of student drawings, and historical examples of drawings by famous artists.

Rendering techniques November 6, 2007 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This book takes you through the basic giving examples of critiques as why something doesn't quite look right and thereby teaching your eye what to look for when rendering, gradually giving harder examples. I used this book to start drawing.
best beginner drawing book September 26, 2007 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
Love this book. Perfect for a quick review of the basics and as a good intro to drawing. I wish I had had this book years ago when I started taking fine arts classes at the local university.
