Lots of action, but it misses out on the character interaction June 18, 2008 I'm in the throes of Doctor Who love, reading everything I can get my hands on, but this one disappointed. It may be partially due to my perspective (female, not a teen), but what really makes Doctor Who work for me is the relationship between the Doctor and his companion, and given that the two spend almost the entire novel apart in prison there is sadly little interaction between the two.
The action is fine; I was not a huge fan of the Slitheen so their return didn't do much for me, but I did enjoy the Doctor's relationship with a research group of alien scientists - his immediate bond with them is utterly true to his character. And Rose's triumph over adversity is true to her character, as well... the book worked, but it just didn't give me what I wanted; "Winner Takes All" by Jacqueline Rayner is much superior.
NIce tie-in May 29, 2007 This adventure of the Doc. and Rose works very well. It doesn't interfere with the TV series "cannon", nor does it mess with the characters and their presentation.
All in all, a very good story told well within what the Doctor and his companion are supposed to be like. The Slitheen are a bit tired, but still excellent antagonists.
NIce little hardcover for future reading in the car; I have to say I like it!
Great read! May 15, 2007 This book is a fast read. The story is fast paced and the action is non stop. You can actually see the story moving on in your mind. Great read!
Skinning Aliens February 2, 2007 I really, really loved this book! It has the action, suspense and witty dialuoge that is a signature of the show. With the Doctor and Rose seperated for most of the book, it really showed what she could do on her own, and how they never lose faith in each other. I highly recomend this book to Doctor Who fans who are thinking of getting into the book series; it's the best one I've read yet!
Very like the Doctor! April 24, 2006 I really liked this book. Until I saw the 2005 season on SciFi Channel I did not even know what Doctor Who was. I think because this is " my first Doctor" I can really see the book matches his personality. Some who have seen other Doctors may not agree, but I really like it and will be buying others in the series soon.
