Realizing only one thing: Now, release all imaginary past and future August 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Power of now is the life changing book for many, nothing more than repeating same thing for many other. It all depends on our mental acceptance to understanding something new thought and experianceing who really we are.
This book make more sense, if you practice meditation or life circumstances force you to so low that, you give up fighting your fear, thoughts or pain body suddenly.
You can break past patterns of your life, you can see life more appreciting than what we thought, we realize we are sprititual beings experiancing human being.
If you like reading this, I also recommend "New Earth" from same author.
Some steps I felt I need to follow to be with being or now. 1) Know who are not. 2) Know your pain body (or all painful thoughts of past or future) 3) Know the difference between inner voice and you. Identify, how it's controlling you so far. 4) Know how inner voice or pain body thought keep trying to entertain you, the moment you accept it. How it vanish in thin air, when put attention or focus on it. 5) Continue practice Now by focusing on your body sensations or circumstances, instead of going with inner thought. 6) Understanding that, focus on now comes with out much thought now. 7) This is begnning of end of compulsive thinking of pain body. Attaining oneness with being, peace, stillness, joy of being. 8) Continue your practice power of now, after some time, you no longer needs to practice. You become being and live in now. N'joy the life form of you.
Delightfully insightful August 25, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book offers a refreshing insight into the mind that you wont get from society. Simple to read and deep with reason, Eckhart has delivered the philosophy of the new decade.
Drivel August 24, 2008 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I really cannot understand what the big deal is about this book. People tend to get almost a religious fanaticism about this book. I found it trite and condescending. If you are a critical thinker, steer clear. If you are looking for a feel-good "all-my-problems-are-now-solved" book, by all means, carry on.
Gets Across the Message but........... August 23, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
A book like this(which would also include his subsequent "A New Earth)can be really effective in giving one "a shot in the arm", the realization that there is only the NOW to be experienced. As such even thoughts, concerns and preoccupations with the past(via memories)or the future(via anticipation, expectation)still only occur in the NOW.
The above notwithstanding, an individual really intent on awakening from the "dream" of illusion could only get so far with the message(such as the thought that "I need to live in the NOW") and would require a legitimate Guru for the proper spiritual guidance.
A Valuable Book August 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Any one who reads this book will get something useful from it. Being present is not a new idea. But some times we do not realize we are not present. It is a good way to be in touch with life to be in the now. I did not underline in the book but might have and it would be easier to be specific. It is best to read a book and get what you need with out thinking you have to look for it in a book. Be open minded and the book is valuable. The Power of Now is a worth while book to read.
