5 out of 5 stars prose kept my eyes glued to the page   October 16, 2008
Stephenie Meyer's prose kept my eyes glued to the page, and although there are nearly 500 pages, I read the whole thing in just a couple of days.

I think "Twilight" could best be classified as YA paranormal romance. Bella, the 17-year-old main character, falls hopelessly in love with Edward, a ninety-year-old vampire with the body of a teenager. Edward is just as lovestruck with Bella, yet he worries that his way of life will put her in everlasting danger if their relationship continues. The pace is slow, with the story taking place over the spring semester, but the intensity stays pretty high, especially during the last foruth of the book.

I'll definitely be reading the other three books in this series to see what happens to these prolific characters.

4 out of 5 stars Great distraction from everyday life   October 16, 2008
This book is full of mystery, romance, and a little bit of the dark side. Okay, maybe a LOT of the dark side. It is not a typical choice of reading material for me, but I am so glad that I finally picked up a copy. I lost a lot of sleep, because I literally could not stop reading! On book 3 now....can't wait to see what happens!

5 out of 5 stars A little reluctant.   October 16, 2008

I have to admit considering I have a fantasy/sci-fi book addiction I tried to avoid this series all together. Well two days ago I finally gave in to one of the most endearing stories. I loved this book and I can't wait to read New Moon. Considering I read Twilight in one night I will be done with this series before I know. Although it is not as intellectual and not as detail as other novels of the genre. Well it is suppose to me for young adults. The story gets to the point and I loved every page turn. Not just a young adult novel, this book can be enjoyed by anyone who loves a good story. A little romance doesn't hurt either.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   October 15, 2008
This is a great story about vampires as well as the power of love. I bought this book and the other 3 books in the Twilight Saga and finished them in 8 days. That is how captivating the story is. Everyone that has every been in love or is wanting to find love, will be swept away into the world of all the Twilight characters that Stephenie Meyer has created for us. This truly is a GREAT book (and series)!!!!!

3 out of 5 stars Its not Shakespeare but.....   October 15, 2008
I admit I didn't want to actually purchase this book because I had heard one of two things..A)Best book ever written or B)Most waste of time ever written. In actuality the book isn't half bad, yes there is an overuse of the word "perfect" and yes the main character "Bella" does have a preoccupation with distancing herself from everyone. Compared to most of the "rich girls with to much money being biatchy to each other" YA litature out there, it is something different.
I think the thing to remember is that this is not Interview with a Vampire people, it is a collection of books written for the under 16 set, its not meant to make statements or change lives. I think it harkens back a lot to the "Angel/Buffy" romance (though Angel MUCH HOTTER then Edward).
The main issue I had with the writer is that she rips alot off from the "Roswell" series, including the whole "I saved your life even though now my whole family may be in trouble" and the "4 beautiful siblings that dont eat or sleep".
This is what happens when a single mom in England writes a killer series, now every housewife in America thinks their the next Bronte.
