Great Little book February 3, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I agree totally with Angel Lee. I'm always going back to this book for ideas. The pictures are wonderful. This is a good book to cross reference with a more detailed tree book. That's what I do. When I wrote this Amazon didn't have any new ones to sell, but there were plenty of good used ones and new ones from Marketplace sellers. Well worth the money.
Inexpensive, but very informative guide to trees October 25, 1999 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you want an inexpensive but very informative guide to trees, get this book. The emphasis is on choosing the most suitable tree for a specific environment, with a special section on urban trees. The best part is an encyclopedia of 100 trees, with nice color photos of most. Information includes scientific & common name, hardiness, characteristics, ideal growing conditions, native habitat & varieties. Additional general information covers transplanting & caring for the trees. There are also very useful tables on trees best suited to different geographical regions and environmentally tolerant trees. If you are looking for trees for spring bloom, fall color, or specific size, following the recommendations here will help you select the trees that will thrive in and enhance their setting in your garden.
