4 out of 5 stars You can learn a lot from this book.   December 17, 2004
Yes I did have one or two minor problems with grammar. A good example of this is; "there are 77 known species of cetacea of whom we know very little."

I also had one or two problems with the otherwise excellent graphics. This publisher needs to learn that we, in the western world, always - and I do mean "always" read from left to right as we work our way down the page. Any consecutive series of 4 graphic images - set two above two, which are to be viewed in a strict order so that they might demonstrate a sequence, therefore, will always be naturally viewed by the reader top left, top right, bottom left and finally bottom right. The point being, the eye of the reader automatically reads those images in that order before realising they should have read them differently. By then, of course, the point being made is lost.

Other than that, this is an excellent book which is well worth buying. The information is well written and well laid out. With few exceptions, the images are quite excellent and, coupled with the equally excellent graphics, provide great support for the text.

I particularly liked the "Species List" although I would have like to see many more - of not all them, shown in graphic form.
