5 out of 5 stars Most Educational.   December 15, 2004
Just as soon as I took delivery of this book, I was aware I had a quality product in my hands. It is a large coffee table book containing 160 pages packed with information and photographs of the highest calibre.

The author's list of credits is impressive by any standards; He is a zoologist who has worked for several conservation projects around the world (including WWF, the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Conservation Union), is the author or co-author of over 30 books on this and similar subjects and is a Consultant to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. He also took every single photograph in the book.

As David Bellamy says in his foreword "This is what I like about this superb book. It's not a 'doom and gloom' catalogue of destruction, but a celebration of the magic of Dolphins - and a warning of severe problems to come if we don't change our ways." Says it all really.

I particularly like the way in which the book is laid out. With Chapters headed; Dolphin family, Dolphin design, Sensing the environment, A day in the life of a Dolphin, Research, Mysteries, Dolphins and people, Watching Dolphins and Save the Dolphin, we get an immediate sense that everything you ever wanted to know about the many different aspects of the Dolphin will be found right here in this single book. You will not be disappointed.

Altogether a great book and one which is most educational - even for people like myself who frequently encounter Dolphins as part of their work.
