Worth watching January 23, 2005 Great film, good acting. The storyline was good and kept you on the edge of your seats. Worth watching!
Thriller January 23, 2005 Very finely crafted in its plot. I did not read any reviews before watching it. The only thing I did was to watch the preview and I didn't spend time thinking about it before I watched it.
The twists and turns along the way ranked very high in terms of entertainment value to me. Sound effects are up to par with the top movies and catches you off guard. A toast to the sound-editor for that.
Dialogs are good but can be polished further. Juiene Moore did quite a good performance here.

I have not seen the movie yet but I bought it. Please people!!! If you didn't know, reviews are for people who have not seen the movie to use your input and determine if the movie is worth buying or seeing etc. Please do not give away the movie before we see it. Why would I read a review of a movie that I am anticipating buying or watching if some idiot gives the whole movie away. Think People Think!!! thank you to the people who do know how to write a review correctly. Goodness Gracious!!!!!

Strong characters, minimal supernatural/alien activities. January 23, 2005 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had to see this movie for the simple reason that it's unimaginable that a heavy duty drama queen like Julianne Moore would take on a dark movie like this, not that she hasn't done an alien movie before, she did Revolution(a sci-fi comedy with David Duchovney). It's just nice to see her try something so refreshing after a handful 4-5 stars rated dramas(Safe, Magnolia, Far From Heaven, The Hours). Unfortunately, the script in The Forgotten made sure she could flex her dramatic acting chops throughout the movie by allowing her to be in almost every scene, but forgot to intensify the supernatural/alien/the sky elements that made it a not so stimulating psychological journey. Yes, the supporting cast all contribute a good deal to their good roles to this lowkey mysterious headgame, and most of them either lose their memories or in the middle of nowhere get sucked into the sky by some magical or high-tech vaccumn cleaner from alien force or the Divine energy. The story evolves around Telly Paretta(Moore) who was the only person to have memory of her supposedly dead son who died in a plane crash 14 months earlier, and everyone else including her husband Jim(Anthony Edwards) thought she was delusional, because he never remember having a son. For 14 months, she had been seeing her shrink Dr.Munce(Gary Sinise), and even he thinks she was making things up. So she "escaped" from all this scrutiny from her trusted ones, thinking it was some kind of conspiracy, and head out to search for the truth. She went to see a man(Ash, played by Dominic West) whose daughter also died in the same plane crash and had absolutely no memory of it whatsoever. Telly helped him regain his memory when she uncovered a wall with all his daughter's drawings. Telly and Ash emabarked on a search together and at the same time they had became fugitives of the government. In the Police force, Det.Anne Pope(Alfre Woodard) was the only person to believe Telly's story, and she was on a quest to help her. Unfortunately, when she encounter the alien(Linus Roache), and upon failing to kill him with numerous gunshots, she too got vaccumned into the sky right in front of Telly. Pretty soon, almost everyone is taken or forgotten and it was upto Telly to go direct to the alien(based at the airport) and figure out everything on her own..... So to sum up, I think it's not a bad sci-fi/supernatural movie, but it really needed more special effects and visuals happening. The ending had a message of spirituality and if you love someone a great deal, no hi-tech will erase your memory for your love one like Telly Paretta. Anyways, it's not obvious enough that Linus Roache was an alien, because he had some compassion in the end for Telly, and he did have great power and his face turns ugly when he was mad. Maybe he was just a messager.
