the best comic movie after superman June 18, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
ignore all the bad critics (luckily a few), they don't know what they're talking about. this one is perfect better than spider-man 2, and arguably as good as superman. why is it better than spider-man 2 ? well in general, spider-man feels a bit comical -some would say that's how it's supposed to be done, but given that's true, it's still a bit melancholic. i think in reality even a poor hi-school student don't look that "sorry". Batman feels real all the way, it's more complex emotionally. go watch it.....another strike from chris nolan.

The B's Have It... June 18, 2005 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Between Burton (Tim), Bale (Christian), and Batman, the combination is unbeatable in this best yet melding of the Batman legacy. Bale's depth of character is a little too superficial but I'm hoping that will develop in the next movie. Otherwise, give me a Tim Burton movie any time an I know I'll be satisfied. GO SEE THIS ONE.
HEY MARVEL...DC HAS DONE IT TOO!!! June 18, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a big fan of comic book characters and have no particular allegiance to any company (i.e. Marvel, DC Comics, etc), though I must say that Batman is my all time favorite character. DC Comics and Warner Brothers have finally done it - too! Now we can expect to see some great releases as its rival Marvel has been doing for the past couple of years!
This movie is spectacular! Starting with bits and pieces of the past to the glorious present, viewers can see how Gotham City fell to its knees and how a young Bruce Wayne went from an angry young man to Gotham's only hope! The action is breathtaking and the storyline couldn't be better! And this Batmobile is awesome!
Hold tight because I presume that this is only the beginning for DC Comics and Warner Brothers. It is on now, as we'll have the opportunity to see all types of characters on the big screen. I only hope that Image Comics jumps on the bandwagon and makes another flick about SPAWN - as they need to do that right too.
Easily the Best Batman Movie Ever Made June 18, 2005 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although not considered the "real" first Batman movie, 1966's BATMAN with Adam West, a quick knock-off to capitalize on the campy classic TV series, is a fun DVD...but an awful movie.
Tim Burton's BATMAN and BATMAN RETURNS hardly qualify much better, to be honest. It was difficult to accept Michael Keaton as the Dark Knight. Jack Nicholson steals the first movie. And Tim Burton can't get any action momentum going to save his life.
Joel Shummacher's BATMAN FOREVER and BATMAN AND ROBIN are actually just big-budget camp entries that should've been called THE AMBIGUOUSLY GAY DUO: THE MOVIES.
So not a very high bar to jump....
But, happily, BATMAN BEGINS arrives and it's easily the best Batman movie ever made. Christopher Nolan, the director responsible for MEMENTO, and the writers actually take what would be considered the dullest part of the story--Bruce Wayne's early life--and make it fast-paced and interesting. Christian Bale easily out-bats everyone else who ever put on the cape and cowl. I loved how he appears from the dark in the Bat's early scenes and literally snarls at everyone he speaks to.
The rest of the cast is incredible: Michael Caine as Alfred the Butler and Gary Oldman as Sgt.-then-Lt. James Gordon stand out. Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, and Rutger Hauer are also on hand to add weight to the proceedings.
Dark, psychological, well-paced and well written, interesting--this is the best Batman movie ever made, and I can't wait for the next one! (Cool set up for the next entry at the end too, by the way)
