Should have had more than 5 stars June 1, 1999
Having been to the area, I find this book to not only to have very pictures, but it also manages to tell the story of life in a way that tears your "scientific" part of your brain away from the "emotional" part.
Educational, fascinating, and compelling, all in one book. February 22, 1998

I found myself captivated by this book. The text flows smoothly and reads easily, the pictures are insatiably compelling and speak for themselves. The only thing better than reading this book would be to have actually been on the plains of Savuti and to have witnessed what is so awe-inspiringly described in the book. A tribute to all who participated in putting together such an account.
