My 4 year old is crazy about sea creatures, especially whales. This book was the big hit at Christmas. Surrounded by wrapping paper and "flashier" playthings that rev, beep and blink, he sat enthralled and went through the whole book, page by page. Three months later he still looks at it almost daily. There is a lot of information, gorgeous illustrations, a lot of pop-ups and tabs to lift or pull. I like this book so much, I purchased a second copy in case the first gets worn by too much use. This is a great book.

The Whales- Mighty Giants of the Sea, that pop-up and pull out give readers an indication of the sizes of different whales. Children love to move some of the whales around. Out of print..but still available, I reccomend all of the series by National Geographic Society. Our 4 year old grandsons always wanted to read them first. They fasinate groups of older children too. I was fortunate to find all 9 of them at a sale: Amazing Monkeys, Creatures of the Desert World, Animals Show Off, Dinosaurs, Strange Animals of the Sea, Wonderful Animals of Austraila, Animal Homes, Hide and Seek and Animals Showing OFF. However, not willing to give them up, I ordered more from Amazon Used Books to enjoy giving them as gifts.
