4 out of 5 stars There's an Owl in the Shower!   December 16, 2000
This book is about a boy who is out hunting. He wants to kill this certain species of endangered owl because they put his father out of business. His father cuts down forests. Then, when he is hunting, he finds a baby owl. He does not know it is the owl he is looking for. He takes it home and cares for it until it is fully grown. He has to conquer alot of problems along the way. When it is grown he finds out what kind of owl it is. By then he is to close to it to kill it. When they finally let it back in the wild they are sorry to see it go. How this book got it's title is like this. When the owl was still young, the boy's father was in the shower and the owl got into the bathroom and jumped in the shower with him! This is a funny book! I know that everyone who reads this will have a great time. I read this book awhile ago. I have wrote a little better review on two other books: Good Night, Mr. Tom and Thank You, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I hope to write many more reviews in the future.

I like this book There is an Owl in the Shower. What I liked about your book was that it had something to do with my Mom's favorite animal, an owl. I think this book was really funny, but also it is kind of sad. I liked it because it had an owl in it.

Hi, my name is Cassie. I like the book There's an Owl in the Shower. It is about a boy who didn't like spotted owls because his dad lost his logging job. One day he found an owl he doesn't think he is spotted owl and takes him home. He and his family fall in love with the owl. Borden even teaches the owl to fly! I really like this book because I like owls. If you like owls, you'll like There's an Owl in the Shower.

5 out of 5 stars Truly Engaging and Thought Provoking   March 22, 2000

I read this to my class of 6 to 12 year olds and they all absolutely loved it. A few of them could not wait for me to finish it in class and promptly went to the library so that they could find out what happened on their own. There are very few books that appeal to such a wide range or readers. This one certainly did and I only wish I could find more like it.

This was a very interesting book, it was about a boy named Borden who finds a stray owl and takes it home to raise it. As Borden raises the owl, his dad has to get along with it since he's an owl hater and they teach it to fly. I think it is a sad book.
