5 out of 5 stars It was an amazing book!   February 9, 1999

Talking Earth was a great book about a young indian girl named Billie Wind on a journey to find out the true meanings of her tribes "legends". I thought that it was great because of how J. C. George expressed her feelings about the indian beliefs. I would recommend this book for kids ages 10-15.

5 out of 5 stars One of George's best books!   July 2, 1998

The traditions of Billie Wind's Seminole tribe seem out-dated and hard to believe. What she'd like to do is go on a NASA mission to another planet. As a punishment for her disrespect, she is sent into the Everglades to learn about the value of the earth for herself. This is a beautiful story of growing to know and understand the natural world. Anyone who thinks environmental issues are not of vital importance should read this or any of George's books.

5 out of 5 stars A gift to us all   June 24, 1998

This book is a rare beauty, a true gift of the author to her readers all around the world. Maybe it is George's best. It is the story of a girl who dreams of living on another planet, but on a dangerous and solitary journey through the wilderness learns that this earth is all we have, and that it is a place of wonders we have to keep and protect.
