Exciting page-turner August 30, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The first book in Alane Ferguson's Forensic Mystery series, the Christopher Killer is a riveting look at forensic investigation through the eyes of teen girl. Ferguson is no newcomer to the mystery field, though her series of mysteries in national parks are for a younger audience. This book is definitely for older kids, and adults as well. This is an exciting beginning to what looks to be a terrific series. Ferguson's next book in the series, Angel of Death, is due out in September 2006.
What a page turner! July 6, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
What a perfect ending! Nope, won't tell you more about it, but I thought the ending was perfect even as the book stands alone...and yet it leads us into the possibility of more contact with the lead character in the series' future.
This was definitely a fun read; I couldn't put the book down. Ms. Ferguson painted great word pictures and I could walk through the town and situations right along with the characters.
Another winner from Alane Ferguson! June 14, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a middle school library-media specialist, I am always looking for smart, well written mysteries to meet student demand for "something really scary". This book definitely fits the bill. Cameryn is a wonderful main character; smart, savvy, independent and believable. She is able to quickly put clues together and follow her instincts which leads her into many suspenseful situations. The forensics part of the book is great too - there is enough information to gross kids out (which they love) but not graphic enough to cause nightmares. Alane Ferguson deftly leads the reader from one suspect to another giving just enough information for us to consider each as the possible killer. There is also an intriguing backstory involving Cameryns' family. The jacket art fits the book and is attractive and appealing to students. I can't wait for the next book in this trilogy!
Couldn't put it down! June 8, 2006 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Every once in a while I get a book I can't put down, and this was definitely one! The story line is great and moves quickly, and I loved all the characters. They all felt real. And the autopsy was REALLY real, to the point where I'm pretty sure I'd never want to attend one! Ferguson obviously did a lot of research. I don't want to give anything away but will say that it's a nail-biter!

I found Christopher Killer to be both intriguing and educational. What fun it was to witness the inside world of forensics and be pulled along by an intricately woven tale of suspense and mystery. Not just for teens!
