5 out of 5 stars Large is better!   September 5, 2008
Eighteen years ago, I purchased the whole set of large-sized "Little Animal" books by Francois Crozat, for my then infant nephew. As a baby, he literally crawled onto the book (strong, board-laminated pages) pointing with glee at the full-color illustrations of animals. Recently, I tried to buy the set, and discovered that not all of them are even available anymore! This is truly heart-breaking because the large format books are spectacular! Instead, I found at least 4 (large) books to give as a gift and they proved to be a wonderful addition to a child's growing library. The illustrations are magnificent! They are full color and fill the page. Your child can "grow" with these books too. As infants, they will appreciate the big colorful pages, and as they move into reading, parents will appreciate how much time their child will spend reading and looking. There are no negative passages in the book. The word content and illustrations on every page is beautifully and lovingly detailed, but based in reality too. I highly recommend buying these books (the whole series if you can find them) as a starting library for any child. Don't bother with the "small" versions of the Francois Crozat series. It is the large-scale of the board books that are so impressive. Try to collect the whole set (if you can find them all!) ie; I am a Little Duck, a Little Hedgehog, a Little Kangaroo, a Little Panda, a Little Giraffe, a Little Elephant, ... countless!)

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as others in this series   April 24, 2008
This is definitely a weaker story than others in this series. Additionally, there is a weird, jarring reference to the World Wildlife Federation and a poster. I assume it's trying to evoke support for the endangered Panda, but it just reads wrong, it totally kills the already weak narrative thread, and pretty much renders this story a two star. A real disappointment.

Excellent ideas for young children and could exand to "I Am Me" book. As a psychotherapist I would be happy to consult on the project if desiredl.
