5 out of 5 stars A great magazine for young kids   September 4, 2007

You have to search high and low for products that aren't commercialized, and this magazine is one of them. My nephew is 6 and this has been an excellent gift for him the last couple of years. Next year he will graduate to the Ranger Rick magazine, which my kids currently enjoy.

Our grandsons, ages 3 and 5, save all their copies of the magazine and look through them frequently. Your Big Backyard is often chosen as one of the "books" to be read before bedtime. So many children these days do not get the opportunity to wander in the great outdoors and form deep atttachments to the natural world. I think Your Big Backyard is one way to help children to appreciate and care about the environment.

5 out of 5 stars A fun & informative mag for kids!   May 26, 2007

Although this magazine is targeted to the 3-7 age group, my two-year-old loves it! Each issue of the magazine is fun & fact-filled - kids get to learn about a variety of animals, with beautiful photographs scattered throughout. The magazine is also filled with interesting activities that will engage kids & the diversity of each issue in terms of games etc is definitely a plus point. There is no advertising, another major selling point, plus it supports a good cause, the National Wildlife Federation. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars A Favorite With My 4 Year Old   April 4, 2007

My daughter wants this read from cover to cover as soon as it arrives each month. The wonderful photography, brief but informative text and creative regular features are a big hit here. We're homeschoolers and enjoy integrating themes from the magazine into our daily routine. My daughter particularly loves "reading" along with the Bonnie and Chester feature.

5 out of 5 stars Fun, informative, colorful, and age-appropriate   March 19, 2007

My 5 year old son looks forward to every edition of Big Backyard. As soon as we bring it in from the mailbox, he insists on sitting down and scanning it page by page, then returning to it day after day to intently read and study each story and picture. He not only enjoys it, but learns so much from it -- and retains what he learns! This has been a terrific purchase for us to enjoy together. My only complaint is that we get through each issue too quickly and wish for more!
